The Oxford Shirt

The Oxford shirt goes all the way back to the 1900s, when it was first seen in Scotland. It was when the qualities were experimented with that the popular Oxford shirt took its place in the hierarchy.

The quality of an Oxford shirt is characterized by its weave, where two types of yarn are used – one heavier and another lighter.

Back in the 1900s, polo players greatly enjoyed the Oxford quality. At that time, the quality was the best-functioning due to the functionality when playing. Later it became more commonly known, and many enjoyed it as a shirt. Hence the name Oxford shirt.

The Oxford shirt appealed to many, due to its simple and unique appearance. From there, the shirt started life as a button-down shirt that could be styled with a suit and tie. Over time, it also got a more relaxing look, and could be styled as desired.

The different looks became iconic due to the Oxford shirt's functionality and have not changed much over time. Even women began to enjoy the shirt, although it was primarily intended for men.
